When

Saturday, August 5

9:30 am - 4:30 pm

Description

This workshop will cover the basic knowledge you will need to paint beautiful watercolor botanicals. We will cover: 1) The essential watercolor supplies for optimal results, and a brief overview of watercolor characteristics, color theory and color mixing. 2) Watercolor brushstrokes and techniques specific to botanical illustrations, including techniques to add visual interest using a single-layer of paint. We will also go over some multi-layer techniques for added detail and dimension. 3) Step-by-step painting instructions for the following botanicals: eucalyptus, laurel leaf snailseed, lilac, olive tree branch and flowering dogwood. 4) Composition and layout ideas, with a focus on combining watercolor botanicals with calligraphy. After the instructional portion of the workshop, there will be time for you to practice these techniques and work on a watercolor artwork to take home.
