Exploring Copperplate Variations & Numbers

When

Saturday, June 22

9:30 am - 5:00 pm

Description

Join us for a day of exploring Copperplate script variations! Copperplate script is a generic term for a classic script characterized by contrasting thick and thin strokes. It is a pointed pen script that evolved from a handwriting system developed in the mid 17th century called English Roundhand. We will begin our adventure by taking a look at formal versions of the script based on the Zanerian Manual’s Engrosser’s Script. Then, we will examine other exemplars of other penmen, past and present, to study similarities and differences within the same family of scripts. After, we will explore an array of variables such as letter slant, shading, spacing, etc. with the goal of discovering our own unique preferences and style of Copperplate script letters and numbers. *Some pointed pen experience needed.
